The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today launches its daringly innovative and progressive advertising campaign that uses graffiti art to promote its mobile spay/neuter clinics among inner-city owners of large breed dogs.

The ASPCA partnered with Tampa-based advertising agency, Pyper Paul + Kenney, to focus on African-American and Hispanic inner-city males in New York. The campaign effectively relays the message on the importance of spaying and neutering large breed dogs through graffiti art that will be posted on phone kiosks and wallscapes throughout the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. The artwork will also run in print newspapers that reach the target demographic throughout the city.

Three artists contributed to the campaign by donating their time to create artwork that would appeal to the target demographic: Darren Brass of Miami, Fla.; Mike G of Ottawa, Canada; and KaNo of New York City.

KaNo’s artwork, which features a young man proudly walking his pit bull mix with the tag “Show your boy you’ve got his back,” is the first piece to kick off the 10-week campaign.

Its actual canvases that we painted, then worked into the advertisments. I believe they may auction them off after the campaign, but I dont know exactly what the plan is.

Will this art be actually sprayed, or is it preconceived and merely a vinyl application?
