Really nice this recent commercial for Seat Altea, featuring the tennis legend John McEnroe having troubles with a policeman and the parking lines. It was nice to see McEnroe in this campaign, he still maintains his flavour!
The campaign is currently running in Europe (I saw the tv spot yesterday evening). The video runs in english, subtitled in the planned Country language. This is an interesting thing.

John Mcenroe stress me out as soon as I see his face. I will boycott any product he endorses.
Hello Tim, I think your opinion could be valid for the 85% of advertisements that use testimonials. I do not think this is a waste of money: this is an example of how a single commercial can be delivered worldwide (here in Europe it was on-air in almost all Countries), saving money, simply by adding some subtitles, and featuring a nice testimonial. A person like McEnroe maybe helps the brand to keep some position in the mind of people like me (not over 30 but not a teen) which remembers McEnroe as a nice angry guy (Seat is a joung nice angry brand for cars).
In every case, I prefer McEnroe to testimonials that have nothing that boobs to show.
Try to put in the commercial a Jeep or a Jaguar, and see what happens…
I’m sorry, but this cmmercial sucks big time. The humor isn’t relevant at ALL for the brand. Replace the car with any other brand of car, and the commercial still stands. So: waste of money.
